Barclays has announced today a the new Barclaycard Arrival Plus with an EMV chip, and some other more upgraded benefits.
The new Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Master Card still offers a bonus of 40,000 bonus miles when you spend $3,000 in the first 90 days and you earn 2 miles on all purchases.
The 40,000 miles is worth $400 (+40, as explained later) off your next travel reward, every mile is worth 1 cent when redeeming.
Redeeming miles for travel is easy. Just choose any airlines, hotels, motels, timeshares, campgrounds (the bold ones were just added), car rental agencies, cruise lines, travel agencies, tourist attractions, discount travel sites, trains, buses, taxis, limousines, and ferries with no blackout dates or seat restrictions. Use your card to book the travel and once you see the charge in your account simply redeem your miles for statement credits towards all or just a portion of your travel purchases.
Travel statement credit redemptions start at 2,500 miles for $25, toward travel purchases made within the last 120 days (it used to be 90 days).
Every mile is worth 1 cent when redeeming it for travel, that means 40,000 miles can be redeemed for $400 in travel (and since you get 2x miles on all purchases its like getting 2% back per dollar spent)
Plus when you redeem your miles you will receive 10% of those miles back to your account. Example – if your redeeming 40,000 miles you’ll receive 4,000 miles (worth $40) back to your account (that means you are actually getting 2.2% cash back per dollar spent).
The $89 annual fee is waived for the first year.
