REMINDER: Today is the last day to get the lower price of $79 for a year of Prime membership before it goes up to $99!

UPDATE: If you currently have Amazon Prime and on your renewal date will be charged the new price of $99, you can click here to buy an Amazon Prime gift membership which you can send to your self for the current price of $79, and activate it when your current membership is up. Just make sure to set your account that your Prime membership should not auto-renew or cancel it before it renews.

Back in the end if January I posted about a possible increase of between $20 and $40 in the price of Amazon Prime (in the U.S.). Well Amazon has just announced that existing Prime members will have to pay $99 (up from $79) on their renewal date. Amazon said that it has sent an email to Prime members telling them when this will happen specific to their membership.

But if you are thinking about opening a a Amazon Prime account you can still get it for the $79 price for the first year if you sign up within the next 7 days.

Amazon Prime gives its members,

  • Free Two-Day Shipping on millions of items with no minimum order size.
  • Unlimited instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows with Prime Instant Video.
  • Read free books each month through Kindle First and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.

So, if you were thinking about signing up for Amazon Prime now will be the time.
