Starwood has announced the category changes for 2016.
These changes will go in to effect on March 1, 2015, so if the hotel is going down a category then wait to book and if you plan on staying at a hotel that’s on their list of going up in category make sure to book your stay before the 3/1/16. Most hotels let you cancel for free up to a certain amount of days before your reservation (just make sure to check what it is, before you book).
The price of points needed per night for each category is not being changed this year, you can click here to see the chart of how many point you need for each category.
