Menachem Toporowitz Z’L Rachmana Litzlan, a family has been torn apart and a community is in mourning. Without warning and in a blink of an eye, Menachem Toporowitz Z’L, a loving husband and father of five young children, all under the age of 15, was suddenly niftar this week

His almona and orphaned children, together with thousands of people, are crying for the loss of a man who dedicated his life to his family and to the needs of so many people in Klal Yisrael. They need our help NOW. Menachem spent his life helping others, it is now our turn to be there for his bereft family.

Yehuda is a 25-year-old father of three adorable children who up until 7 months ago used to play by weddings, he used to be mesamech Yiddishe kinder and as his chesed he would go to hospitals to play music for sick children.

Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer H”y and he is slowly debilitating. Since he is a father of young kids and his wife is busy tending to their little kids they have moved into his mother/ my sister’s house so she can take care of him. His parents take care of his needs round the clock often missing work to be with him in the hospital for treatment. My sister and her husband who both work full time have always lived paycheck to paycheck barely covering their monthly expenses. Chicken is for shabbos, their weekly dinners consist of what we eat for side dishes. Now they have her son and his family which is another five mouths to feed.

On March 27, 2023, over 20,000 people will gather at Prudential Center for the inaugural Shabbos Maamad event.

The Shabbos Maamad event will be a maamad of Klal Yisroel celebrating Shabbos. Shabbos was given as a gift to Klal Yisroel at Har Sinai. Chazal tells us that when Hashem gave Moshe the mitzvah of Shabbos to give over to the yidden, He said “Lech Vehodiem”- Go and tell them. Shabbos needed to be explained to the yidden because it is such a precious gift, and without hearing about its depth we wouldn’t understand how to appreciate it properly. At the event, participants will be uplifted and inspired through the Shabbos Maamad experience to deepen their appreciation for the gift that is Shabbos, and to help each person understand just how tremendous this gift is.

The Maamad will consist of Divrei Chizuk from Gedolei Yisroel, as well as inspirational speakers, stories and music. The crowd will fabreng and dance together with the flavors of a Shabbos tish, developing  a greater appreciation for Kedushas Shabbos. All participants will walk away with true excitement and anticipation to experience Shabbos on a higher level.

What’s even worse is the thought of Chaim’s incredible wife Miriam (Citronenbaum) and FOUR BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN ALL UNDER THE AGE OF 7 having their life turned upside down with no father to turn to.

At this most difficult moment, we turn to all our friends and family and help this family who has always been on the giving end to ensure they don’t collapse. We as a community need to do our best and not allow this family to suffer any more than they already are.

Chaim Z’L is the 33-year-old son of Lisa and Yaakov Elefant of Brooklyn NY.
