Here’s what happened to Meira and Yosef Klein:**
Late one night, Yosef began to experience some serious symptoms. Hatzalah, suspecting a heart attack, sent him straight to Jersey Shore. The doctors wanted to perform a potentially life-threatening procedure to prevent serious damage. Meira was completely alone, vulnerable, and extremely afraid to make such a critical decision by herself. It was 3:15 am. There was no one she could speak to, no one she trusted was around to guide her. So she picked up the phone and called Bikur Cholim. She had no idea if anyone would answer – it was 3:00 in the morning, after all – but she had no other options.
To her shock and relief, a volunteer picked up right away, and connected her to the people she trusted to help her make the monumental decision to go ahead with the procedure. She called back a few days later to thank Bikur Cholim for saving her husband’s life, and for providing support and guidance when she was completely alone and desperately needed advice.

Since its founding a century ago, the Agudah has been working tirelessly on behalf of Jews around the world.
The Agudah has been networking with various organizations involved with the kehillos in Ukraine. Many Jews have, Baruch Hashem, managed to flee the warzone. However, there are still many Jews who must be evacuated.
In addition, thousands of Jewish refugees require food and basic necessities.
There is a desperate need for funds to help Ukrainian Jewry. The cost to evacuate each individual can be over $10,000. One bus can cost a few hundred thousand. They also need to be provided with food and shelter once they arrive at their destination.
The situation in Ukraine is getting more difficult with each passing hour, and it is vital that we evacuate everyone before it will be too late.
This money will be distributed among the various organizations so that every single dollar will be put toward helping the refugee families.

I am currently in a car in Poland on the way to the border to see and visit the refugees as they cross the border from Ukraine into Poland. I just visited a hotel in Warsaw that is full of refugees and now I’m going to see how they come over the border.
In the meantime, we are continuing our hatzolah work in Kyiv and the rest of Ukraine. Today, four busses left from Kyiv. Two left from the shul and two left from our assisted living home.
Today, we made the very big decision to move the elderly people in the assisted living home in Kyiv since it was too much of a danger for us to wait any longer. We decided that we had to get them out now.
Also today, we began renting a camp near Munkatch in western Ukraine, and that is where we took the elderly people from the assisted living home. We also are taking people there from our camps in Premishlan, Belz and Yampoli. These are all refugees who can’t or don’t want to leave the country right now. The new camp has 350 beds. It is a huge undertaking to get everyone there and to run the camp, but we hope it will be a good place for the refugees to continue putting their lives back together as much as possible under the circumstances in which they are living. We want them to feel that they are able to have a semblance of a normal, Jewish life, and not like they are only refugees.
Help Us Continue To Save Lives
All of the people who came to the border today got through, boruch Hashem, and we are currently working on continuing this lifesaving work. I want you to know that I am getting calls every few minutes from people all around the world who are crying that they have relatives in Ukraine that they can’t get out. Tomorrow, two busses will be leaving from Niezhin, in addition to the busses leaving Kyiv, like they have been doing every day. People are also begging us to arrange for busses to get people out of other places like Chernikow, but it is simply too dangerous to do that right now. I feel that now is a time that we can work to save lives. We have an opportunity that may not be available much longer. We have to chap arein to do the best we can to save as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
The expenses are building up exorbitantly. We are spending upwards of $200,000 a day to save people and take care of refugees. I ask everyone to please give what they can to help us save lives and make the refugees feel better and more at home until will be able to bring them to a safe place to continue to rebuild lives.

Last week, the jews in Ukraine woke up to a terrifying nightmare. The fear was overwhelming, the panic overpowering.
The Russian army is advancing on major cities in Ukraine, and is now evident they will do anything in their path of destruction. It is imperative that we relocate the Jews who are left while we still can.
Busses are needed urgently to evacuate these Jews. Tremendous traffic jams and exorbitant prices being charged by local bus companies are hiking up the cost of each bus to a prohibitive $30,000. This is all before the refugees arrive to camp. Once they arrive, the costs are even higher, for food, shelter, and security.
This is an opportunity of Hatzalos Nefashos that you may never experience in your lifetime. Rabbi Y Bleich, Chief Rabbi of Ukraine is calling on jews from around the world to assist with this situation of pikuach nefesh.
