It Was The Paramedic Who Told Her That He Collapsed and Passed Away

July 9, 2020 at 4:00 pmCategory:ADVERTISEMENT

PAID ADVERTISEMENT

A family was shaken to the core a few months ago when their apparently healthy father did not make it to the family simcha he was supposed to attend one evening.

Like any other day, Moshe Gotsman left his home early in the morning and told his wife he would meet her at a family simcha later that evening. As nightfall came, and there was no word from Moshe, his family began to worry. They couldn’t imagine what might be keeping such a devoted family member from this exciting event.

Amidst the wonder, Moshe’s wife Leah, received the dreaded call. A paramedic had reached out to her to inform her of her husband’s sudden passing. There were so many questions left unanswered for this newly widowed woman and her grieving family.

The only information they received was that Moshe collapsed during the day, lost consciousness and wasn’t able to recover. In just the span of a few hours, the Gotsman family went from simcha to tragedy. It was truly an unimaginable event.

Moshe’s untimely passing took everyone by surprise. He was a bright, respectable, and trustworthy man, who lived his life to the fullest. He had a close friendship with HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, Shlit’a and would visit him often. Moshe made a modest income as a teacher who would impart his great wisdom to young children in a highly sensitive manner.

Now, Leah is left alone as a widow. She cannot keep up with her family’s expenses and is being threatened by banks to either pay her debts or lose her home. She is feeling completely overwhelmed as she is still grieving the shocking death of her husband while dealing with these new financial burdens. She is hopeful the public will hear her story, and help her get through these difficult times.

Why This Bochur Thought He’d Never Become A Chassan

“Recently came a day I feared would never come,” begins the emotional letter penned to the public. “The day I became a chassan.”

Yitzchok Rotman’s disbelief at his engagement, however, was not due to the struggles with dating which are so prevalent in today’s world —

He was surprised because he didn’t expect to be alive at all.

Two years ago, Yitzchok was in a hospital bed fighting brain cancer. Shortly before, his older brother had died from the same disease. The Rotman family were still freshly processing the loss of one son when another was diagnosed. It was a chaotic time, which they feel tremendously blessed to have left – Mostly.

Though the disease has passed, the Rotman are left dealing with its after-effects on a daily basis. An overwhelming amount of medical debt has left them in extremely difficult financial standing. They have a large family to support, and struggle to cover their basic needs. Now that Yitzchok is engaged to be married, they are left without the means with which to make a chasuna.

The aforementioned letter goes on:

“My wonderful parents, who have suffered through so much and given all they had to their children, are now left unable to afford their own clothing to their son’s chasuna. There are many siblings to dress, a hall to rent… Even the simplest wedding is far beyond our expenses.”

His hope, however, is not yet exhausted:

“Helping to make a chasuna is a tremendous mitzvah and that is why I am turning to you, Klal Yisroel. It is truly a miracle that I am here today to speak with you … Maybe we can make another miracle, together, through this mitzvah – and my family can make this wedding with dignity & ease.”

Those who are able to donate to help the Rotman family make a simple chasuna and recover from their crippling debt can do so here for a limited time.

Parents Creating A New Normal for Their Children

All families inevitably experience bumps in the road from time to time. It is a natural progression of life, and overcoming these challenges helps build us up for the future. There are families, however, who cannot catch their breath or recompose themselves quickly enough before experiencing another blow. Leiby and Goldy Eingbar are the parents of such a family.

Leiby and Goldy are the parents of 11 beautiful children. They work extremely hard to sustain themselves, and yet they are caught in a heavy tide of medical bills and high daily expenses. Out of their eleven children, four of them suffer from the constant need of various medical procedures. Their sweet daughter has already undergone a surgery to prevent her from going blind. Two of their younger sons consider the hospital a second home as they spend so much time there for various treatments. The struggles never end.

Despite the many challenges they are facing, Leiby and Goldy are doing their best to persevere and redirect their misfortune. They have seeked counsel from HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlit’a, who has signed a letter on their behalf, that their intentions to save their family are pure.  They are working incredibly hard to pay off the medical bill. Leiby works 16-hour days and Goldy remains strong for her family as she shuttles her children from therapies and doctor appointments.

The Eingbars cannot keep up with the growing medical expenses alone. There are simply not enough hours in the day to earn enough money to pay for the procedures their young children have endured, and have yet to endure. Leiby and Goldy pray for the day where they can be a normal family, one without the stress of surgeries and doctors appointments. Until then, they are desperately seeking assistance so that they can give their children what they need and finally turn their backs on the misfortune they’ve endured.

COVID Cases On The Rise Again In Israel: Rabbanim React

July 5, 2020 at 4:00 pmCategory:ADVERTISEMENT

PAID ADVERTISEMENT

The ‘second wave’ has officially arrived in Israel as numbers of coronavirus cases continue to rise worldwide. Most are back to work and there is a sense of fragile normalcy in the air.

The Vizhnitz Rebbe, Rav Ezrachi, Rav Feinstein, Rav Biderman, and Rav Finkel gathered in Bnei Brak recently to discuss the current state of the world, as well as to form a Beis Din on behalf of a group of impoverished orphans. The orphans in question are struggling to make their own weddings without their parents.

The rabbanim gave a bracha to all donors to the orphans’ wedding fund that they should have nachas from their children, health, and “easy parnassah.”

In light of the current COVID spike, this bracha is as needed as ever: Many have begun to see their grandparents and other high-risk relatives again, and hope that all will remain healthy and they will be able to continue. Even those who are not concerned about the virus itself are adapting financially to the rapidly shifting economy.

Readers can donate here to bring relief and joy to a group of young people who face humiliation & grief, and to receive this meaningful bracha

A Young Man Forced To Deal With Medical Issues Alone

Many people believe that the famous Rebbe, Ha’admor M’zhvil, has a unique insight into people’s souls. Through his lofty outlook on life, the Rebbe is able correctly identify people’s strengths and people’s needs.

Not long ago, there was a young boy who came from a broken home. His father was emotionally unstable, and his mother was too overburdened to be able to give her young son the attention he desperately needed. He had no one to turn to. It seems that with Divine Intervention, this boy found himself in the care of none other than Ha’admor M’zhvil. When everyone turned their backs on this young boy, Ha’admor M’zhvil held on tighter than ever.

Just a few years later, this young boy is now on the track that the Rebbe always believed he would be headed towards; one of greatness. While this young man has made great strides in his development, there are medical barriers he encounters which he cannot overcome, due to his lack of familial support.

The Rebbe himself is speaking on this young man’s behalf, and trying to get the help his special friend needs in order to continue to grow into the outstanding individual that only the Rebbe knew he could become.

The Rebbe blesses all those who donate to this worthy cause, a long and healthy life surrounded by family and always with the embrace of God.

Why One Family is Fighting to Get to Switzerland

July 1, 2020 at 4:00 pmCategory:ADVERTISEMENT

Shulem and Gitti Shutland are the proud parents of Chani, age 4, Chaim, age 1 and a half, and Yaakov, age 6 months. Until Recently, they both worked extremely hard to provide for their family.

When Yaakov was born six months ago, Shulem and Gitti quickly realized that he was not like their other children. He was diagnosed with a rare skin disease that has affected his quality of life. Yaakov is extremely uncomfortable all the time. He cries all day from the pain of his own skin and is kept up at night by bleeding wounds. Yaakov and Gitti have been working tirelessly with top doctors throughout Israel, trying to find a cure for their son.

Amidst the chaos of helping their pained child, Yaakov became sick with what they assumed to be a mild virus. Given that it occurred during the same time as the coronavirus outbreak, they were told to stay home and avoid going to a doctor prematurely. Suddenly though, Shulem’s condition deteriorated and without any explanation, he was fainting just from standing up. He was admitted to the hospital and was diagnosed with a very serious condition of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Shulem’s heart is unable to cope with even two quick minutes of standing without accelerating so quickly that it causes him to black out and collapse. Shulem is now bedridden in a hospital and being monitored every second of every day. His doctors are not optimistic as they explore different treatment options.

Gitti has been a true woman of valor, as she cares for her ill husband in the hospital, raises their young children alone, and continues to search for a cure for her pained baby boy. A top dermatologist from Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital has suggested a new treatment for Yaakov. It comes from Switzerland and is extremely costly. Of course, Gitti would do anything to help her son, but unfortunately cannot afford it. The Shutland family has no income as they are battling these rare and life altering medical conditions.

The weight from this family’s struggles is falling on the shoulders of one young woman. She is in desperate need of assistance, as she tries to restore the health of her family members. Any assistance Gitti and her family receive will be life saving. Please consider helping a young family in their time of need.

When “Mazel Tov” Hurts

“If you listen closely, you can still hear her cries…”

In the little Israeli village of Shunem near Afula sits the home of the Isha HaShunamis, famous from the story of Elisha HaNavi, who sent his servant to visit her home. Elisha gave the woman a bracha to have children, and her prayers were answered.

Since then the house has had an illustrious history of gedolim & their followers praying at its walls, with many telling stories of miracles. In previous years, Rav Chaim Kanievsky has visited the Isha HaShunamis, crying out to the Heavens behalf of those longing for children. Yearning for children is a common phenomenon, and each of us knows someone who has struggled to conceive. This year, the Rav is sending his talmid – a Gadol in his own right – Rav Shimon Galai.

Rav Galai will be praying at the kever, taking time to pray carefully for each couple, that they should receive the immeasurable gift of a family. Rav Galai has dedicated many of his hours to selflessly collecting money for Kupat Ha’Ir, so that impoverished families can have what they need to survive.

As the cries float in on the breeze at peaceful yet desolate home of the Isha HaShunamis, the listener must wonder … Whose cries are they? Are they her ancient cries, or echoes of something more recent – those of the members of klal yisroel who today, in 2020, are longing to be parents?

Are they the cries of the rabbanim who gather there to pray for their congregants or, perhaps, are they the cries of families too poor to put food on the table?

Readers can donate here to wipe their tears, and – with the power of blessing – bring us all closer to a brighter future.

Rav Asher Weiss, Shlit’a: “It’s a Matter of Pikuach Nefesh”

June 28, 2020 at 2:29 pmCategory:ADVERTISEMENT

PAID ADVERTISEMENT

Planning for the future is an idea that many people use as a guide throughout their lives. We surround ourselves with righteous people, and create important, long lasting ties. We know the value of eating the right foods, so that our bodies can develop healthily as we grow older. Unfortunately though, there are many instances where circumstances are out of our control despite our meticulous planning.

Rav Asher Weiss Shlit”a discusses this sensitive topic. Rav Weiss has chosen to disclose certain information about a close talmid of his. A man who always worked hard to provide for his family. A man that always made the right decisions, hoping for the best outcomes.

This particular Ben Torah, however, could not anticipate the distressing circumstances that would become his new reality. This man’s family is falling apart, as they lost their home and their son became ill. As the emotional and financial stress continued to mound, the young man that Rav Asher speaks about, also became quite ill. Now, the family is in the worst of states, and Rav Asher Weiss has spoken on their behalf. Rav Asher blatantly describes their case as a matter of “pikuach nefesh” and urges anyone who is able to help this young man and his family to do so.

The Rambam teaches us that the mitzvah of tzedakah is a transformative experience for both the giver and the receiver. Rav Asher urges Klal Yisroel to participate in this transformative experience, and bless those who do to merit a life abundant with good health and success.

She Never Disclosed the Large Debt Their Family Was Accumulating From Medical Bills

June 23, 2020 at 12:11 pmCategory:ADVERTISEMENT

PAID ADVERTISEMENT

We often hear stories of resilience, centered around great public figures. We have countless books about tzadikim who come from “ordinary” homes and pushed themselves to new heights. The stories that are too frequently overlooked, though, are those which depict strong and independent individuals who somehow overcome tragic circumstances and are able to build for themselves new lives, filled with a sense of fulfillment. The story of Malkie Friedman is just that.

Malkie grew up in a large family. She has 9 other siblings. They are all married, with the exception of one brother, who has special needs. Naturally, such a large family can generate quite a financial burden, especially when there are additional therapies to pay for in order to help their son with disabilities. Malkie’s parents worked hard to support their family, but it was always a struggle.

About 5 years ago, Malkie’s father was diagnosed with cancer. Being a man filled with determination and strength, he chose not to disclose the diagnosis with his children and continued his efforts to provide for his family while battling the illness. Again, despite his best efforts, it wasn’t enough and the family struggled financially.

A few years later, while on a family trip to Meron, Malkie’s mother collapsed and became unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. As a result of the illness, Malkie’s mother began to lose her eyesight. She was prescribed medication to help strengthen her eyesight, but it was not covered by the family’s medical insurance. The Friedman family was falling into greater debt.

While Malkie’s mother was recovering from her illness, Malkie’s father needed a new surgery to remove a growth in his thyroid. The surgery was difficult and he was put into a medically induced coma in order to facilitate his recovery. It wasn’t long after Malkie’s father recovered from the surgery, that he contracted Covid-19. The doctors wanted to put him on a ventilator. He was petrified, but Malkie supported him throughout the entire illness. She never disclosed the large debt their family was accumulating from medical bills.

With her father in the hospital, Malkie was left to care for her recovering mother alone. Early one morning, Malkie found her mother on the floor, with her face blue. Malkie called the medics and did everything she could to save her mother. Unfortunately, though, it was not enough. Malkie’s mother died.

Since then, Malkie’s father has been released from the hospital and has been recovering in another daughter’s house. Meanwhile, Malkie has been trying to save her father from the financial burden of their enormous debt.

Malkie recently became a Kallah and now needs to make a wedding and set up a home without any parental support. It is an extremely daunting task, and Malkie is turning to the public for help. She begs for anyone who is able to help her overcome her heartbreaking past so that she can build a better life for herself and future husband. Malkie’s story is one of perseverance and strength. Those who help can instill hope in her future.

Rabbanim Unite For Historic Beis Din

June 21, 2020 at 10:08 amCategory:ADVERTISEMENT

In a world full of unrest, uncertainty, and struggle, what difference can just one person make?

How about just three dollars?

The Vizhnitz Rebbe, Rav Ezrachi, Rav Feinstein, Rav Biderman, and Rav Finkel gathered in Bnei Brak recently to form a historic Beis Din. The gathering was arranged on behalf of 52 orphans who are struggling to make their own weddings without their parents.

Each of the orphans has a unique & painful story of loss, each more devastating than the last. One kallah, ‘Devori,’ was shopping for her wedding dress when her mother collapsed and passed away.

The rabbanim gave a bracha to donors who donate the equivalent of $3 for each orphan that they should be blessed with children, life, and sustenance, and merit to marry off their children with health & nachas, be saved from suffering and illness, and to have easy parnassah.

What made this gathering unique, said Vaad HaRabbanim representatives, was that an actual beis Din was created, so as to make their bracha into a psak Beis Din. As it is known, when a psak beis din is made in this world, Hashem makes it a reality in the world above.

This multifaceted blessing, together with its status as a psak beis Din, clearly indicates how important the Rabbanim find this cause to be.

The chuppahs of the 52 orphans are steadily approaching. With tears and anticipation, they take stock of all that they still do not have. The rabbanim have heard their cries, and they are hoping to bring bracha into the lives of all who help them – Donors can give here to answer their call.

A Mother’s Dream for Her Daughter

As a child grows and matures into an adult, each milestone is marked with excitement and feelings of gratitude. The goal of a parent is to provide its child with everything they need, in order to secure their future as an upstanding and independent adult. From diapers to clothing and everything in between, parents will give anything they can to set their child up for success.

Chaya Liba Haas is mother of eight wonderful children, and her dreams are no different than any other parent. Raising her children and marrying them off is no easy feat, especially given her unique circumstances. Her husband, Shimon Zt”l, recently passed away after battling with illnesses most of his life. The past year was the most difficult yet, as Shimon spent the majority of his time in Tel Hashomer hospital, before being niftar in Tammuz. Chaya Liba split her time being by her husband’s side and continuing to work as a teacher in order to keep her source of income. Despite her efforts, Chaya Liba’s salary was not enough to cover all of her large family’s expenses in addition to accumulating medical bills.

Despite the tragic circumstances, Chaya Liba has been zoche to see her daughter Esty become a kallah. While the engagement has certainly brought some much needed light back to the Haas home, it also carries a tremendous deal of stress. Chaya Liba is struggling alone to give Esty and her Chosson what they need in order to build a home. Willing to sacrifice almost anything on behalf of her daughter, Chaya Liba has already sold her home to try and cover some of her family’s debt and upcoming wedding expenses. Like any parent would, Chaya Liba is doing everything she can for her daughter. But it is not enough.

It would be a dream come true for Chaya Liba to be able to help her dear Esty during this memorable time. You can help make her dream a reality by making a donation to this worthy mother and her family.

Bonei Olam’s candle lighting initiative harnesses the unique power that Jewish women possess while lighting their Shabbos candles.

By donating $1 at candle lighting every week, 18,000 women will sponsor the $18,000 treatment for a couple awaiting a child of their very own.

Bonei Olam Vzakeini from Bonei Olam Vzakeini Bo on Vimeo.

When a couple finds out that they can’t have children on their own, it’s painful. But when they realize that access to thousands of dollars is the new challenge they must face, it can make them feel hopeless.

M.D. and P.D. felt a blow when they learned that the only way for them to have children would be through difficult fertility treatments. But they felt crushed when they heard the price tag. They couldn’t afford it and parenthood looked like the impossible.

Enter Bonei Olam, the only fertility organization whose mission is to provide the means or resources necessary for childless couples to pursue medical fertility treatment.

P.D. called Bonei Olam and Rabbi Bochner came on the phone:
“Have you heard of our 18,000 women initiative? Women donate $1 each and they pray at candle lighting for our couples. Each week we donate the money raised to one childless couple’s treatment. You will be the recipients of this week’s funds.”

One phone call and there was hope again.

This week, Rabbi Bochner called Sara and Moshe to let them know they will be receiving eight thousand dollars towards their treatment.
For M.D. and P.D., their impossible dream is now within reach.

P.D. shares, “I have no words to describe the feeling of support I have knowing that 8,000 women are standing behind us as we move towards our dream of parenthood.”

Watch: Moving Message From Harav Gershon Edelstein Shlit”a

There is a unique segula associated with Rebbi Yonasan ben Uziel’s graveside. The great Tanna, who was never married, promised that anyone who davened at his burial place would be zocheh to finding their own zivug in his merit. For over two thousand years, countless Jews have placed their trust in these words and poured out their hearts to Hashem while davening at Amuka to find their Bashert.

This year, HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlit”a, is following in his father, Rav Tzvi Yehuda’s zt”l, footsteps and organizing a group of talmidai chachamim to recite Hatarat Klalot in Amuka. HaRav Edelstein’s allustrious group will be reciting the special tefila on behalf of all those who donate to Kupat Ha’ir, in order to help the yesomim and almanos who are struggling financially.

“Tefila, together with tzedaka, can bring salvation to whomever needs…” It is HaRav Edelstein’s hope that the righteous people who donate to this worthy cause will be zoche to build a bayis ne’eman b’yisroel. Click here to add your name to the list.

An Entire Community Left Bereft After the Loss of One Man

The Jewish people suffered a great loss on Motzei Shabbos evening, June 7th. In Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, Rav Shmuel Aharon Starik zt’l, just 58 years old, returned his soul to the Creator after battling Covid-19.

Rav Shmuel Aharon was the son of the revered Chassid, Rav Gershon Starik. Rav Gershon had a close relationship with the Rebbe of Toldos Aharon and was known for his infinite kindness, as he performed selfless acts of chessed on behalf of his community and for Klal Yisroel at large.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Rav Shmuel Aharon, also maintained close contact with the Rebbe of Toldos Aharon and spoke with him shortly before his passing. Rav Shmuel Aharon strived to make the most of every moment throughout his short life; and was motivated by a drive to help those around him. He was a member of the Toldos Aharon Chassidic court and was considered to be a leader of the community. Many members of his community relied on Rav Shmuel Aharon for financial support. Rav Shmuel Aharon would go through great lengths to provide for those in need, even when his own family was struggling.

Although he lived a mere 58 years, Rav Shmuel Aharon had accomplished more chesed than many do in a lifetime. It goes without saying, that a man so devoted to his community was also the driving force behind his own family.

Rav Shmuel Aharon was one of the first men in Yerushalim to be diagnosed with Coronavirus. Although his family and the community were shaken by his illness, they experienced Yeshua when their beloved community head recovered. It was extremely shocking and painful then, when Rav Shmuel Aharon was again diagnosed with the illness and lost his life shortly thereafter. He left behind 13 children, one of whom is still in Shidduchim. His wife and children mourn the loss of their husband and father, while the community mourns the loss of a great leader.

Rav Shmuel Aharon was buried on Motzei Shabbos, after a procession which began at 1:00am. He was taken through the Toldos Aharon community in Meah Shaarim, until he was laid to rest on Har HaZeisim.

Funds are being collected to help support Rav Shmuel Aharon’s family during this sorrowing time.

Rabbi Motty Kopman, his friends recall, could become a person’s best friend the moment he met them.

He always spoke from the heart, and had a charm about him that allowed him to connect with every individual on a personal basis.

He had moved from Israel to provide spiritual support to a budding new Jewish community in Buffalo, and became the local Rabbi’s right hand man. Many shabbosim, he would walk for two hours to a shul, just to help them make a minyan; many congregants would come just because Motty was there.

On Rosh Hashanah, after being the Chazan and baal tokea, he would walk to the local university and spend hours looking out for jewish students and blowing shofar for the students, that didn’t not make it to a shul.

He always had a smile, a kind word, an inspiring story for everyone he met. He was a walking encyclopedia of music.

Motty had been battling Lymphoma for the last six months, and succumbed to COVID-19 at the age of 34, leaving behind five beautiful young children and a grieving wife.

A fund was set up to assist his family in this hard time.

She Was Giving Birth, When They Told Her Something Wasn’t Right

Parenthood is challenging for just about everyone. For Yaffa & Bentzi Katz, however, it is truly a full time job. They have 6 kids, two of whom are severely disabled. Roizy, 7, and Leizer, 5, are wheelchair-bound and need oxygen to breathe. Between their treatments, tending to their needs, and the rest of the Katz kids, there is very little time for anything else.

Because of this, father Bentzi has been unable to keep any sort of job. There is always another emergency, another hospital trip, another cry for help which keeps him from working full-time.

This has left the couple, and their 6 kids, in a very difficult financial situation. That is why they are turning to the global Jewish community for help.

They need help to cover their expenses, including rent, as well as treatments for the kids which are not covered by their health insurance. A video message mother Yaffa gives a glimpse into their remarkable story: Roizy has had over 20 surgeries, and neither of their special needs children are either to hear or speak. Pictures of the children on the campaign page show two adorable kids, one with curly black peyos, the other with a blue bow in her hair.

It would pain any parent to think of Roizy & Leizer not having their needs met. Despite their parents best efforts, however, that is the case.

Donations are being accepted here to help the Katz family, so Bentzi & Yaffa can focus on giving all of their children the happy, healthy childhood they need.

Belz Community Shaken By Tragic Loss

Belz Community Shaken By Tragic Loss

The world is in a chaotic place. When faced with health crises, social unrest, and financial instability, it is natural to feel a sense of helplessness. Some, however, manage to rise above this sense of helplessness and fight, against all odds, to make an impact on the world. Few exemplify this trait more than Rabbi & Rebbetzin Mentzer, of Jerusalem.

Rabbi Mentzer was severely disabled for much of his life. He and his Rebbetzin were married for many years before they were blessed with children. The Rabbi was wheel-chair bound. Despite these and other challenges which would have paralyzed many, Rabbi Mentzer was extremely active in his community. He dedicated his time to helping struggling families, and many individuals would come to ask him for his guidance. Through his selflessness he was able to transcend his limitations.

Rabbi Mentzer passed away last week, leaving behind a Rebbetzin & two twin daughters. In addition to their grief, the family is now assessing the practicality of their situation. For years they have persisted only on Rabbi Mentzer’s modest disability checks. With his passing, the checks stopped coming. They are now left drowning in a sea of debt, bills, and apprehension for the future. The Mentzer daughters are of marriageable age, and the Rebbetzin is pained at her inability to provide them with assistance. It is a painful situation for all involved.

The Belzer Ruv has vouched personally for the family, with an in-depth letter on their behalf. The Rebbe’s letter blesses all those who step up to help the Mentzer family with “long life, children and abundant sustenance, [and to be] saved from all illness – with only good.”

Readers can honor Rabbi Mentzer’s memory by helping his Rebbetzin here for a limited time.

Rav Chaim Kanievsky’s Schedule This Shavuos

May 24, 2020 at 12:40 pmCategory:ADVERTISEMENT

Just a few days remain until the holiday of Shavuos, and the global community has begun to prepare. Many have prepared their grocery lists, planned where they will be ordering their flowers from, and even decided which seforim they will be learning. Rav Chaim Kanievsky will be dedicating some of his precious time on Shavuos to one particular cause, and recommends others do the same.

This year, Vaad HaRabbanim’s Shavuos fund will be raising money to help those who have been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus. Rav Chaim has given a bracha to all those who donate that they should merit to have nachas from their children, and success in finances. This comes at a particularly relevant time, when many are looking for ways to improve their parnassah. The Rav will also pray on the actual holiday for all those who join the cause.

Rav Binyanim Finkel released a captivating video message in which he discusses Rav Kanievsky’s blessing. “What does G-d want from us?,” he begins. (The rest of the video can be seen on the campaign page.)

The week of Shavuos, it is difficult to imagine a more relevant question.
